Sophia Rose Lee is a painter, graphic designer, and photographer based in New Orleans. She also works as a creative director and artist manager, collaborating with musicians to shape their visual identities and long-term direction.
Her painting practice is rooted in movement, rhythm, and emotion, influenced by her background as a dancer. Through texture, vibrant color, gestural brushwork, and expressive forms, her work explores spontaneity, tension and release, leaving space for viewers to bring their own interpretations.
Originally from Montclair, New Jersey, Sophia lived in New York City before moving to New Orleans during the pandemic. She quickly fell in love with the city’s culture, architecture, music, and color, which continue to inspire her abstract and expressive work.
Alongside her studio practice, Sophia has built a decade-long career as a freelance designer, creating websites, album artwork, posters, and visual identities for musicians and creative projects.
Sophia holds a BFA in Communication Design from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts. Her work has been featured in Richmond, Virginia at the Depot Gallery; in Easton, Maryland at the Hummingbird Inn (solo exhibition); and in New York City at both the Van Der Plas Gallery and Sims Gallery.
